Why Famous Younger Guys like Older Women

With films Drive and The Ides of March about to debut, 30-year-old Ryan Gosling's about to go from being known as "the dude from The Notebook" to "the hottest actor in Hollywood." So what does that mean for Gosling, besides being able to negotiate $20-million film contracts? Scoring tons of women. That's right,Leonardo finally has some serious competition, but fortunately for Leo, who prefers to date women while their in their physical prime (he's currently tied to Gossip Girl star Blake Lively), Gosling likes his women more mature and worldly -- in other words, older. It seems he's finally gotten over his former long-term beau, 32-year-old Rachel McAdams, by falling for AskMen's former No. 1 Most Desirable Woman, 37-year-old Eva Mendes. Not a bad upgrade. Here are the hot Hollywood couples who remind us why we liked The Graduate so much.
Guys With Sexy Older Women

No.7 Selena Gomez And Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber still can't vote or drink, but he can damn well date whoever he wants, even if he still gets in trouble for swearing. The 17-year-old singer is currently dating 19-year-old Selena Gomez, and there's no telling what damage he'll do to the cougar set once he's finally legal. How is this kid's nickname not "Justin Beaver"? What we're trying to say is, he's Canadian.

No.6 Mira Sorvino And Christopher Backus

We're not sure if it's the age difference or the fact that she's waymore famous than her actor husband, but it seems like 43-year-oldMira Sorvino took a page from Julia Roberts' guide to being happily married when she tied the knot with 29-year-old "actor" Christopher Backus in 2004.

No.5 Madonna And Brahim Zaibat

We couldn't even find a photo of 53-year-old Madonna with her current (dare we say) "lover," 24-year-old Brahim Zaibat, because she goes through boy-toys faster than most people use Kleenexes. But just like really old men get obsessed with signing a new lease on a brand new shiny car every year, we can kind of understand the Queen of Pop's rationale.

No.4 Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon

41-year-old Mariah Carey is really, really ri -- um, beautiful. She's so beautiful, in fact, that she has houses all over the world, private planes and could probably buy New York State from the U.S. government, given the current economy. That said, we can totally understand why 30-year-old Nick Cannon is attracted to her seemingly endless beauty.

No.3 Jennifer Aniston And Justin Theroux

OK, so there's only a two-year age difference between Jennifer Aniston and her current boyfriend, actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux, but given her much-publicized man troubles, it's a wonder she's hasn't had to resort to dating someone on the C-list or, worse, a civilian.

No.2 Eva Mendes And Ryan Gosling

Sure, they just started dating, but 30-year-old Ryan Gosling and 37-year-old Eva Mendes couldn't be more perfect for each other: He's crazy good-looking, and she's crazy good-looking, and, well, isn't that what "perfect" is?

Guys With Sexy Older Women

No.1 Demi Moore And Ashton Kutcher

When it comes to replacing the old -- Charlie Sheen and Bruce Willis, for instance -- Ashton Kutcher has no qualms about stepping in and providing younger, fresher talent. Ashton, 33, has been married to 48-year-old Demi Moore for almost six years, proving that May-December romances can work the other way around, provided that the female component is Demi Moore and not, let's say, Kirstie Alley.

Jobs you dont need College

Are you one of the millions of Americans heading off to school this fall? Our "Is College Worth It?" series explores why you should give higher education some serious thought -- because a degree no longer guarantees success.

Is College Worth It?

For those looking for work right now, a “good job” might be any job at all. The economy is still struggling to get back on its feet, and while those at university are worrying about how useful their degree will be in such a stunted, competitive job market, the newly laid off are considering heading back to school as a good investment and for a safe haven for the foreseeable future.

In the long-fought duel between education and experience, it’s common for “experience” to get the short end of the stick. It seems that the (educated) population at large have decided that, yes, there are careers that demand little more than an ability to read and write, but you’re likely to get your hands dirty doing them. Why is it that when we think of jobs without college we always come up with titles like plumber, mechanic and fireman, but forget about great self-made men like Simon CowellBill Gates and Frank Lloyd Wright?

Let’s just say it: Those of us who went for an expensive university education may have been duped. We often come out of the other end of the system with little more to show for it than a short resume and substantial debt. How is it that graduates are over-educated for the jobs they land and employers are complaining that there is a shortage of highly skilled labor?

A recent LinkedIn poll asked recruiters, “What do you value more: education or experience,” and the consensus was overwhelmingly on the side of hands-on practice. Recruiters feel that while some degrees may open doors, it’s experience that will land you the job. One respondent wrote, “I have found that colleges are teaching theory, and from a personal experience, theory only works in theory.”

Another said: “As a hiring manager and the final decision-maker, I can only give you one gem of wisdom I've learned over the years: There is a reason why education and degrees are listed at the 'bottom' of the resume… A degree is just a piece of paper. It does not reflect on the candidate's ability to excel in the position… It does not mean you have the experience of learning from the school of hard knocks.”

So without further ado, here are five great jobs you can land without college.

Jobs Without College

Journalist

There’s no doubt that if you walk up to a newspaper with a master's degree in journalism but no published clippings you’ll be turned away in favor of the guy who was making coffee in the newsroom at 17 and worked his way up the food chain. Most successful media hounds have talent and determination, not a framed university certificate, so whether you’re dreaming of reporting as a war correspondent or cushy travel writer, skip the classroom and start befriending editors. Some of the world’s richest media moguls are college dropouts (Ted Turner was kicked out of Brown and Dreamworks founder David Geffen flunked out of two colleges) and the vast majority of award-winning editors, photographers, radio presenters, and producers have spent more hours in a newsroom than dollars on a degree.

Luxury Hotel Manager

Sure, you may start out waiting tables, but because the hospitality industry is such a transient field, if you’re determined to make acareer out of it, it won’t be long before you’re managing a boutique hotel. Experience here is everything. Hospitality is the art of making people feel welcome and comfortable while problem solving and innovating in order to stay ahead of the competition. Years of experience and familiarity with the profession are worth a lot more than formal training in most cases. One luxury resort manager says the common wisdom in the business is “hire for attitude, train for skill,” and although pay at the lower end of the scale may be a deterrent, bear in mind that the average U.S. salary for a hotel general manager is almost $150,000 per year.

IT Security Specialist

Education tells an employer what you have learned, but experience tells them what you can do. Nowhere is this more relevant than in the fast-moving world of IT, where your work speaks for itself and Ivy League letters after your name are no match for your hacking abilities. When a business or organization has sensitive data that it wants to protect, they’re going for the guy with experience. You can go get a diploma in computer science, but if you’re already familiar with networking technologies and can take care of computer programming in your sleep, then all you need is familiarity with risk management, and you’re good to go. Pay for network/systems security administrators and data security analysts is six figures at the top end of the scale, and, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of computer-security specialists is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2014. As a bonus, if you’re working in the right place you could end up doing cool day-to-day tasks like gathering data and evidence to help fight sophisticated cyber crime.According to nationwide salary polls, the average pay for a criminal investigator is $65,000, with top detectives netting over $100,000."

Music Producer

Musician is an obvious choice when it comes to jobs without college. But if you have Mozart’s ear for music and feel like you should be the one putting big projects together, then you’ll want to be sitting in the producer’s chair. Sound engineer producers will have to have practical skills
, like soundboard and postproduction experience, but an executive producer just needs to know the business, have great instinct when it comes to new sounds and be friends with the right people. Salaries vary widely depending on success, but if nothing else, the lifestyle and benefits keep players in this game. Falling sales in the music industry may seem discouraging, but if you jump into the potential of online business and hit on the right act, you could still do pretty well for yourself.

Criminal Investigator

Experience in the police force, knowledge of “the streets” and a good network of informants are all things that matter far more than a university degree when criminal-investigator positions open up. At the federal level (DA of FBI investigators, for example), higher education is usually preferred, but in some cases, law-enforcement agencies will place just as much emphasis on GPA (should be above 3.5), physical fitness, work experience, polygraph/psychological testing, knowledge of the law, knowledge of languages, and excellent communication skills. Your best bet is to start in the police force and get five years basic experience, then move up to investigations. Alternatively, you can always open your own private investigator business. If you’re good at what you do, word of mouth will keep you in business. According to nationwide salary polls, the average pay for a criminal investigator is $65,000, with top detectives netting over $100,000.

Online Dating Advice

  • BY IAN LANG

  • What You Need To Know
  • Her worst picture is the one you should trust.
  • You should always be the one who approaches her online.
  • When meeting in person for the first time, go for happy hour.
"Nine times out of 10, a girl is only as attractive as her worst picture."
It’s safe to say online dating has gone mainstream. Sure, you’ll still lie to your friends about signing up for it, but it was once described to me as going into a bar where you know every woman in there wants to meet someone. Pretty enticing. I gave it a go a few months ago, not because I need the help, but because I’m so devilishly handsome I needed a method of screening the myriad girls trying to date me (citation needed). It’s been fun, but it’s also been pretty frustrating. Why? Well, for starters, you learn quickly that a 2D image is actually a very poor representation of a real person you’ve never met.

There are entire online communities directed at helping men meet women online. There are forums that offer advice on everything from how to design your profile to how to choose the right pictures. If that’s not enough, there are businesses out there that will not only build your profile for you but will even handle all of your communications leading up to a first date (yes, that is a real thing). However, it doesn’t seem like any of these services are targeting women, and they should be. Women are no better at this than we are. Allow me to explain.

Use Pictures As A Guide, But Don't Always Trust Them

If you learn nothing else from my experiences, remember that the picture section of a girl’s profile is far and away the most important part of it. It’s literally the only thing you have to go on until you’ve physically met and spent time with her, and even then it can only take you so far.

The reason for this is that people can easily lie right through their teeth, and that’s doubly true when they can hide behind a keyboard and a user name in their profile. Sure, she might say she loves dogs and hiking and museums, but if she has pictures showing you that, then it adds a lot of credibility to the persona she’s selling you.

Another thing to keep in mind about pictures is that nine times out of 10, a girl is only as attractive as her worst picture. It sounds cruel, but it’s true. The picture that some girls select as their main profile picture often varies wildly from the ones you don’t see without looking for them.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a girl’s profile picture and thought, “Oh, here we go,” only to look at the rest of them and immediately wish I hadn’t. Everyone wants to put their best foot forward, but some girls find shots of themselves that look so much better than any of their other pictures that you’d swear they were Photoshopped. Some girls don’t have pictures at all. I’m almost positive these are all serial killers. Avoid them.

Finally, understand that if you go out on enough first dates, you’re eventually going to be dealt a losing hand in the form of a girl that looks nothing like any of her pictures (and never, ever in a good way). Honestly, I don’t see the point in misrepresenting yourself. Physical appearance is the one thing that you can’t hide from someone you’re meeting in person.

You may be able to hide your smoking habit, and she can certainly keep her religious beliefs to herself, but if I see pictures of a girl that show her being one size and she shows up looking completely different, it’s not like I’m not going to notice. There was one date when I walked right past a girl in the bar where we were meeting, not out of malice but because I honestly didn’t recognize her. That’s not a good way to start a date.

Nice Girls Will Wait For You To Email First

First of all, nice girls don’t make the first move. I don’t know why, but it’s true. When/if you get an unsolicited email from a girl, they almost always reek of desperation, and in my experience, they aren’t much in the looks department. That’s not to say you should ignore them because you never know what might happen, but the desirable ones tend to know they’re desirable, so they have no incentive to reach out to you, because they’re getting 50+ emails per day and can take their pick. No, if you want to get the good ones you have to put yourself out there. I’m fine with that. It more or less mirrors real life. In doing so, you’ll probably want to read her profile first. When you do that, this is what you’re likely to find:

“I love to laugh and have fun with my friends. I’m driven and ambitious, but I also have a silly side. I’m just as comfortable with a night on the town as I am staying in and cuddling on the couch. I love trying new foods and curling up with a good book, but above all else, I love to travel and experience new cultures.”

Or something like that. I’d wager that she enjoys breathing and sleeping as well. I don’t know why girls tend to write the same kinds of things about themselves, and it makes it really hard to distinguish the interesting ones from the not-so-interesting. In fairness, most of the guy profiles I’ve seen aren’t much better and tend to run along the same lines (note: checking out profiles is a great way to get invited into a girl’s place, as everyone wants to know what the other side of the coin looks like).

Crazy Women

Crazy Women

There’s obsessive-compulsive disorder, and then there’s this next story.

A Dutch woman put all insecure girlfriends to shame when she called her ex-boyfriend 65,000 times this past year. Rumor has it that it all started when he went for a beer with his friends after a movie and didn’t check in with her. Allegedly.

You think you’ve got it bad because your chick wants to check in once per day? She’s got nothing on this 42-year-old lunatic, who -- with the help of some quick math -- dialed her man 1,250 times per week, 178 times per day and seven times per hour. HopefullyJustin Bieber’s “Baby” is not his ringtone.

There’s no doubt that some women love to call, but this redefines excessive. The best part might be that she doesn’t seem to think so as she argued to the judge that her behavior was in fact normal.

Dare we ask how many Facebook posts and text messages she also sent? The court ordered her never to contact him again.

why we Fall In Love

if you’re wondering why the Princess Jasmine shunned Aladdin for so long, it’s just because women need a little more time to know they’re in love.

A recent study of 1,500 men and 1,500 women showed that 20% of guys fell in love at first sight, with nearly half of them saying they were love-drunk after just one meeting.

In contrast, the fairer sex was far more calculated about the business of love. Only 10% of women have fallen in love at first sight, and most didn’t determine whether it was the real thing until after six dates.

In the questionnaires, researchers found that men were checking off boxes such as “looks” as an important factor of being in love, whereas women were more deliberate across the board.

Because males are quicker to the trigger, on average, men said they had fallen in love three times in their lives, whereas women averaged out only once.

Men are also more likely to say “I love you” first and have a higher frequency of loving a woman who didn’t reciprocate.

How to Supersize Your Penis

After receiving much e-mail in regards to penis size and rigidity (or lack thereof), today's sex tip focuses on how you can make your penis harder and, in essence, appear and feel bigger. Please keep in mind that this tip does not focus onerectile dysfunction or impotence, but rather helping men fine-tune their members.

As men get older, many factors can contribute to the loss of penis strength and sexual potential. Our lower bodies need tune-ups, much like car engines do. Blood congestion around and within the sexual organ will cause problems and make many men lose strength in their penises and their sexual potential will, in turn, suffer.

But fear not, for there are solutions to your sexual dilemma. If you follow these simple instructions and make the necessary changes in your lifestyle, then it's likely that your penis will reach its full potential.

Make It Harder

The following suggestions do not guarantee changes, but may help improve many of your insecurities and shortcomings. Keep in mind, though, that a positive attitude will lead to a positive outcome.

Exercise

In order to maintain a full-on erection, you must keep your blood flowing; after all, it's via bloodflow that you achieve an erection at all. By exercising regularly, your blood circulation will improve immensely and will therefore remove blood congestion, allowing circulation to properly resume into your penis.

Improve Your Diet

Consume more soy products, fresh vegetables, fruits, and fish, and keep fatty foods to a minimum. Your diet effects your overall wellness and if you want to be at your best, treat your body like a temple and your penis will reap the benefits.

Take Herbal & Vitamin Supplements

When it comes to sexual performance, one little drawback can lead to a vicious circle. Keep your energy up with supplements such as ginseng and vitamin B12. A boost in energy can lead to a boost in confidence, which can ultimately lead to an increase in penis girth.Natural supplements can also help your exercise regimens.

Give Up Alcohol, Tobacco & Drugs

It's no secret that all drugs are harmful and unnecessary. If you smoke, then quit as soon as possible because it's a little known fact that smokers have weaker erections than non-smokers. Capillaries and blood veins contract when smoke enters the body, inhibiting blood flow and preventing the penis from reaching its full "potential." Even prescribed medication can diminish your penile potential. If possible, try using herbal alternatives instead -- but consult your doctor first.

Massage Your Groin Area Frequently

Just as exercise helps the blood flow more adequately, so too does massage. Now I'm not suggesting that you masturbate compulsively, rather massage your penis and the surrounding area to get your blood circulating and your sexual energy up. Daily massages, just like exercise, can help improve the situation.

It's All Up To You

Perhaps you were expecting some miraculous cure for what ails you. Although these suggestions may sound somewhat tedious and untrue, they are, in fact, important aspects of sexual growth and energy.

Confidence is probably the most important aspect of any sexual experience you're going to have. But if you practice all the aforementioned suggestions, then your confidence will certainly flourish.
